New Library extension - King Alfred's College, Winchester

King Alfred's College, Winchester, has recently completed a new extension to their library. This has provided a significant increased the amount of material the Library can hold. The extension also gave the college the opportunity to accommodate the needs of both traditional and 21st Century library needs. This meant reading tables but with PC usability i.e. Internet and internal network access.

These tables are not available off the shelf so the architects, Feilden Clegg Bradley of Bath approached specialist furniture manufactures. Magpie were recommended and we worked closely with the architects and developed a number of solutions including a fully electronically height adjustable unit for wheelchair access, seating and reception counters. The solution based on the Classic range tables provides a clean simple line that ideally complements the style and scale on the new extension.
